The sea is a mirror of the sky. The land is a mirror of the light.

So much of what we see are reflections of something else, even of our personality. I am fascinated by this duality both of perception and action.

We are always observing horizons, that vanishing point where land meets eternity and my abstracts are often about this meeting point.

In my paintings everything is connected visually or “as above, so below” as the ancient mystics explained it.

Two new paintings illustrating this theme were finally finished this week, along with a new Mixed Media Work on Paper.

I have also been working on some new larger Dance Drawings.

The summer sky is gradually returning to the UK, so let us hope that will be reflected in a summer of love and happiness!

The two new paintings are titled :

“Across the Hills, Evening” and

“The Gates of Dawn, On the Beach, Sunrise”

They will both be on show at the Ice House Gallery, Holland Park from mid August for 2 weeks and I look forward to seeing you there.

Mixed Media on paper is simply titled : “Mirror Image no 1”

Best regards David
